During 2006, Dr. Crawford began experimenting with a new philosophy with respect to what he charges for his services. This policy, called "Integrity-Based Pricing," has been so successful that it has become permanent. It is based upon the belief that those who are requesting his services are people of integrity who often have a specific budget to work with in terms of what they can spend for a speaker and/or trainer.
Therefore, rather than charging a certain amount for a keynote, breakout session, corporate training, etc., Dr. Crawford is going to allow you to choose between two options, his "Very Flexible Fee Policy" and his "Extremely Flexible Fee Policy."
Very Flexible Fee Policy
The "Very Flexible Policy" is for organizations who have budgets in the $5,000 to $10,000 range. Again, because Dr. Crawford believes he is always working with people of integrity, if you will agree to pay him the maximum your budget will allow, he will agree to speak at your event for this amount.
Extremely Flexible Fee Policy
His "Extremely Flexible Policy" is for organizations whose budget is below $5000, and yet still want a quality speaker such as Dr. Crawford for their event. In this case, he asks you to make up the difference with enthusiastic recommendations to your colleagues. This means that in exchange for Dr. Crawford working with your budget of less than $5000, you promise to:
1. Pay him the maximum your budget will allow.
2. Explore whether your organization might have a separate budget for materials that would allow you to purchase a copy of Dr. Crawford's book for each of the participants.
3. Send an email out to your state and national professional association encouraging them to hire Dr. Crawford to speak at their next conference.
3. Post a review of his message and material on your Facebook page and send a short "tweet" out if you have a twitter account.
4. Link to Dr. Crawford's Linkedin page and post a recommendation there as well.
(Of course, because Dr. Crawford depends so much on "word of mouth" for his referrals, even if you choose the first option (the "Very Flexible Policy"), any enthusiastic recommendation to your friends and colleagues is always appreciated).
The goal of this philosophy is to make integrity the driving energy in terms of negotiating fees, and to deal with the issue of budget constraints in a creative way so that Dr. Crawford's message of clarity, confidence, and creativity is available to as many people and as many organizations as possible.
