In helping individuals and organizations live and
work "on purpose", often I have people ask how to find their purpose
and what should it be? Of course, this is a very personal decision,
however, I wonder how many aspects of our lives would improve if
we made excellence our purpose in all we do? It seems to have many
qualities to recommend it, especially if we define excellence the
way the CEO of Successories, Mac Anderson has in this quote.
First, it seems to speak to a process of excelling
or going beyond versus just achieving a static goal. This means
it can grow and change as we do and still serve our greater good.
Further, the source for evaluation is not looking to what others
expect of us, but to ourselves for how much we are willing to care,
risk, and dream. As you seek to become more purposeful in your life,
you might consider how excellence, as defined here, could serve
you in this process...in your work... with your family... with your
friends... etc. Here's to a life of greater Caring, Risking, and
Dreaming!
Take care and God bless, Dr. Bill
