From Chaos To Calm: Dealing with Difficult People Inservice

For those of you who may not have the budget to bring Dr. Crawford to your organization to speak, but still want to share his information with those within your organization, Dr. Crawford offers his level one training on "Dealing with Difficult People." Here, participants will view his DVD from his second PBS special, and learn how and why we become trapped in a cycle of conflict with these people and what we can do about it. This is an excellent foundational training that helps participants learn more about the problem, and gives them concrete steps to defusing conflict and dealing with people in general.

Participants will learn:

  • The underlying cause of conflict, or how a simple discussion can so quickly turn into a vicious cycle.
  • How to tap into the internal motivation of the difficult person to hear what we have to say as valuable information.
  • How we can deal with conflict proactively, or interact with others in a way that defuses conflict before it starts without ignoring the problem or sweeping it under the rug.

As you can see, you will receive a handout and permission to reproduce it within your organization, as well as an instructor's manual that walks you through the training and gives you tips on how to make the most of the experience. In addition, Dr. Crawford will give you information on how this can be offered as a "Lunch and Learn" in about an hour, or expanded to a multi-hour or even a half-day program. As with all of Dr. Crawford's inservice trainings, you are invited to email him using the contact page of this website and ask him any questions about the material, or how to present it in the most effective manner.
